Our THREE TIPS when choosing your E-Session outfits!

hey friends!

Oh my goodness, there is NOTHING more stressful [in the moment] than trying to pick out what outfits to wear for your Engagement Session!!! These are photos you’ll have FOREVER, and also will be featured in the newspaper, on your Save the Date, maybe even in your guest book too!

I just looked back through our Engagement Session photos…. and there’s no easier way of putting it: OUR OUTFITS LOOKED AWFUL. Seriously, I don’t know WHAT I was thinking. They don’t fit our true personalities at ALL, and don’t seem like “us.” It makes me sad.

We came up with 3 tips to help you choose outfits that hopefully YOU’LL look back on and not feel embarrassed like us….

TIP #1: PICK OUTFITS THAT FIT YOUR PERSONALITY!

If you LOVE to dress up for occasions (and maybe your friends call you “extra”) then wearing jeans won’t show off your personality. If your fiancé NEVER wears a bowtie (and HATES them actually) then don’t force him to wear one – because it’s not “him”! Keep in mind this is a ONCE in a LIFETIME chance to dress up and splurge on looking super dressy!!! 🙂

I picked out a NEON YELLOW top for one of our outfits, and I have literally NEVER owned anything yellow, I HATE NEON, and I’ve never worn that top since. WHY DID I PICK THAT TOP???? I don’t know, but it didn’t show off my personality at ALL. Looking back at our photos, I don’t see “me”, and I regret that.

TIP #2: MAKE SURE IT LOOKS GOOD, BUT IT’S ALSO COMFORTABLE!

Maybe you love that dress, but it’s a little tight so you have to SUCK IN and hold your breath. Pleaseeeeeeee don’t buy it!!!! We want you to feel comfortable during your session, not worried about SUCKING IN and your mind preoccupied with the “fit” of your clothes.

Pick clothes that are long enough if you need to sit, loose enough if you’re self-conscious or uncomfortable, and don’t distract you in any way.

TIP #3: PICK NEUTRAL COLORS AND PATTERNS THAT WILL ALWAYS BE STYLISH:

Again, don’t choose neon like I did (cringe). Maybe don’t pick zebra print or leopard print – avoid anything that’s trendy. Choose SOLID COLORS, and SIMPLE PATTERNS. You don’t have to match exactly either! You BOTH don’t have to wear the same colors. If you’re a Tiffany L. Johnson bride and groom, just read the Engagement Guide we sent you, with a whole section on “GUYS: What to wear” and “LADIES: What to wear” for all the details on colors, patterns, etc.!
