The Powerhouse is a brand new venue in Rocky Mount, NC – only 30 minutes from where we live in Wilson! When they reached out to us about photographing their first styled shoot EVER, I jumped at the chance to meet new vendor friends, be a part of something creative, and get outside my comfort zone from the typical white- walled southern plantations that we normally love photographing!
It was even more fun to work with vendors that are FRIENDS on this shoot! Meagan and Emily of Magnolia Grove Weddings, Bill Hamilton Designs, and our former TLJ couple Karey and Jacob Nicholson (see their amazing wedding HERE). It was awesome to also spend time with Leslie from The Powerhouse, Matt from Dogwood Media, Kelly of Silver Ceiling Beauty (and Beanie!), and the talented staff from Rose Hill.
Phillip was so sweet to come with me, to help carry all our stuff in the cold and wind, set up all my lighting gear, and help me game plan what to shoot in a short window of time! He also ran to Starbucks to get me an afternoon pickup 🙂
It was a day of learning and challenging me how to use my artificial light WITH window light to create soft, even light on our models, shooting tablescapes during the day AND at dark to create two very different looks, how to shoot indoors in an industrial brick venue and still get those timeless, colorful photographs we’re known for. I’m really proud of how this gallery of photographs turned out!
