DREW & JENNA = EPIC UTAH HONEYMOON SESSION!

Moab, Utah   |  Adventure Honeymoon Session  |  Drew & Jenna  |  March 9, 2023

YA’LL I’M SO EXCITED to share this INSANE session with you & tell you all about it!

The backstory: over the last few years, we’ve loved working alongside Drew Coleman (24k Cinema) at weddings & we’re #1 fans of his incredible videography! Our first wedding together, we also got to meet his second shooter and girlfriend, Jenna! We always loved working with them and our little “dates” eating vendor meals together! Then, last March I rode with Jenna to a second location at a wedding, and Jenna told me she hoped to be engaged soon! 🙂

Fast forward to November, and Drew and Jenna were recently engaged! It was our last wedding of the year, and we got to work with Drew! He mentioned in passing that he & Jenna would love to have us shoot a destination session for them in 2023 – and I was seriously speechless that he would even say that! I’m such a big fan of HIS, that it was just a huge compliment for him to just consider us for such a special session!!!!

With Drew’s crazy wedding schedule, he and Jenna decided to have an intimate wedding on a Monday – and planned it within just a few MONTHS! They decided to honeymoon in Utah for one reason: they’ve always wanted photos taken at the Bonneville Salt Flats. Drew reached out to us, and said they were serious about having us come photograph this incredible honeymoon adventure session – and of course we said YES!!!! (But secretly I was completely and utterly nervous and wanted to kill it for them!)

We met them for coffee about 2 weeks before our trip to plan our session: location ideas, outfit ideas, posing… all the things. I had done so much research for the Salt Flats and was so pumped to shoot there! BUT THEN….. I started seeing news articles saying that there was a record-breaking amount of water at the Salt Flats, saw videos of people KAYAKING on the flats, and reached out to Utah photographers who sent me photos of their sessions in 1-foot deep of frigid water. They told us to find a Plan B. I was brokenhearted, and texted Drew and told him we needed to find a second location in case the Flats didn’t miraculously dry up. He said they’ve always loved the idea of Moab too – so I immediately started researching!!!

Thanks to many hours of researching locations, asking questions in Utah photographer’s groups, google-mapping spots, reaching out to state parks and national parks about permits, and LOTS of planning – we decided to go with Moab instead!!!

We flew into Salt Lake City & drove the 4 hours down to Moab, and spent our afternoon scouting some locations in advance so we’d have a game plan! Drew and Jenna met us in Moab, and we had the best time hearing all about their wedding day, eating dinner together, and planning our session locations!

We decided that going before SUNRISE would be best, so we all mentally prepared for a VERY EARLY morning, haha! Jenna got up at 4:30am to start getting ready, and she did her OWN hair and makeup! She looked absolutely STUNNING!!! Drew looked handsome and I was obsessed with his style!

Phillip packed up the car, and we left at 6:00am for our adventure! We were blessed with the ONLY day of the entire week that was sunny, and had almost 0 wind!!!! Even though it was sunny, it was also chilly (29º) so we brought handwarmers, jackets, gloves, scarves, and both Jenna and Drew were TROOPERS out in that freezing cold!!!! They were literally shaking, but made it work.

We started off immediately with hiking up to an arch. With the sun rising behind us, it was an incredible view! We ALL started freaking out over the amazing location and taking full advantage of this spot before too many other tourists were there. We spent the next few hours driving to new locations, warming up in the car & eating snacks, and then popping back outside for more photos.

Drew and Jenna were FREAKING MODELS the whole time, it was INSANE how good they looked, their posing, and the amazing locations and lighting we had!!!!! I couldn’t get over how perfect everything was!!!! 🙂

We wrapped up the session after having the BEST TIME, and headed back into town together to warm up with a delicious lunch, coffees, and capped it off with donuts and shopping! It was seriously the best day ever!!!!!

I can’t tell you how NERVOUS I was to photograph other creatives who I look up to soooooo much. I wanted everything to be PERFECT for them, so I hope we knocked it out of the park for them!!!

This is a sign that a Plan B can be an INCREDIBLE thing to happen – and even better than your original idea if you’ll just embrace it! Phillip and I will forever be thankful of this once-in-a-lifetime experience we had with Drew and Jenna. I’m still pinching myself that it actually happened, and that these are OUR PHOTOS…. whattt!?!

Thank you to Mr. & Mrs. Coleman for choosing us to crash your honeymoon, and giving us a “core memory” experience of a lifetime. We are beyond humbled and honored! YA’LL ARE THE BEST!!!!!

I can’t wait to share all my fave photos with ya’ll below! Not gonna lie… I AM OBSESSED!!!!!! I hope you guys also ENJOY!
