Katie Marie | Bridal Portrait Session | May 25th, 2017
Katie was the college roommate who let me keep a light on until the wee hours of the morning so I could sit on our dorm floor and finish art projects.
Her mom, Barbara, would visit us – bringing Hershey Bar Cake, and leaving us stocked with tons of snacks and Ramen noodles.
Katie’s dad, Gerald, bought us pink sticks of pepper spray our freshman year, and installed custom outdoor carpet for our outdoor “patio.” They are all just good, plain WONDERFUL people.
It’s such an honor to photograph my best friend’s Bridal Session. She’s trusting me enough to be her Matron of Honor AND her photographer, so I don’t take that lightly.
We’d scheduled Katie’s Bridal Portrait Session MONTHS ago at her wedding venue in Wallace, NC….but weather decided to throw us a curve ball, and have thunderstorms for our session day. Mrs. Barbara, Katie, and I were all frantically researching, calling, and trying to find a replacement venue for INDOOR portraits. Thankfully, Mrs. Barbara found the PERFECT venue (right across the street from where she graduated high school!) and they fit us in their schedule.
The rain ended up staying away – so we were able to shoot outside AND inside. We had so much fun playing with the feminine aspects of Katie’s whimsical dress, and trying new things. The wind was a little more than Katie liked – but her hair did stay in its curls!!
A special little note is the veil Katie wore. It’s Katie’s “something borrowed”, and just happens to be the veil of another bride WE photographed years ago, Ashley Colavito Spates. SO fun to reminisce about Ashley & Michael’s day as Katie wore Ashley’s veil.
Now that Katie’s a married woman, enjoy these portraits from our Bridal Session together!!!
