Middleton Place Charleston Wedding Day | Katie & Gage | December 5th, 2025
Our LAST wedding of 2025 was incredible!!! We usually don’t accept weddings after Thanksgiving so we can catch up on editing, meetings with 2026 couples, and finally time with family – BUT when there’s an extra-special couple requesting, we make an exception! When we met the gorgeous Katie as a Bridesmaid last year (at our couple Amanda & James’ colorful + fun coastal wedding day – click HERE to see it!) and she asked us about December 5th in our FAVORITE city, at a venue that we loved so much that we even got our own Anniversary Session photos taken in 2021 – we knew it would be an EPIC wedding to end our year!!! :)
Throughout this whole process, Katie and Gage have been a DREAM to work for. From giving us such a fun, playful, stylish Engagement Session to photograph (click here to see), allowing me to design their Invitation Suite (and literally approving the design with no changes), giving us the honor of photographing our FIRST Bridal Session in Charleston (and it was SOOOO DREAMY, click HERE to see it) and then literally being the most LAID BACK COUPLE and so much fun on their wedding day!
The whole week leading up to their wedding, the weather was saying 100% chance of rain….ALL DAY LONG. That could have easily thrown any other couple for a loop – considering they’d planned an outdoor ceremony & cocktail hour. But, showing up in the pouring rain at their downtown Charleston Airbnb – they were having fun hanging out with friends & enjoying their wedding morning! We had such a great morning meeting their friends & family at the Airbnb, photographing all of their gorgeous detail photos (the COLORS! Wow!!!) and then heading to Middleton Place!
Another hiccup in their day, that they handled flawlessly – when Gage opened his tux bag to get dressed, the rental company HADN’T INCLUDED HIS PANTS. Gage’s guys immediately handled it like pros, calling multiple stores on King Street, and jumped in the car with his blue Tux jacket to try and find a jacket that would match! This all happened literally when it was GO TIME to travel to the venue for guys to start with their formal photos – and somehow, the guys showed up to the venue within an hour with a pair of matching blue pants! What a rescue!!!! [edited to add: they found out a day later that the pants WERE there – just had fallen to the bottom of the suit bag!]
It rained all day, but we had SO MANY people praying over the weather for us, that we were so thankful to have pockets of time that it was lightly raining or misting & could go outside for photos. Phillip was a HUGE help to me – watching the radar & telling me when I’d have pockets of time to be outside – so we flipped around the order of lots of photos & made it happen!!! Soooo thankful & thank you to all our prayer warriors too!!!
We couldn’t have made this day happen without Gage & Katie’s INCREDIBLE bridal party!!!! They were so helpful, fun, and willing to embrace all the Plan B’s and kept the day so light and cheerful!!!
The ceremony Plan B was beautiful under the tent with live music & beautiful florals. As the guests enjoyed cocktail hour, we took photos as the rain thankfully turned into a light mist just in time for Bride & Groom photos! It was sooo romantic and dreamy with the foggy vibes!!!
After all the photos, the GORGEOUS reception kicked off! (HUGE shoutout to their amazing planner, Ashleigh who was also the florist!) The colors were SO happy & bright – and I loved all the unique textures and colors everywhere!!! They treated their guests to a yummy dinner (I’m still dreaming about those goat cheese mashed potatoes!) cake, and dessert table – along with a FULL NIGHT of dancing! Honestly one of my favorite part was the toasts – hearing firsthand from their family & friends about what a special, selfless couple they are! My next favorite part of the night was seeing how ALL their siblings + siblings-in-law had so much fun TOGETHER on the dance floor! That’s incredibly rare!!! I just know holidays are going to be so much fun for their marriage!!
I could go on and on about this INCREDIBLE couple, their amazing friends + family & their stunning day! But I’ll just let the photos speak for themselves now!!!
Thank you so much Katie & Gage for allowing us to capture this wonderful day for you! Enjoy!!!
P.S. Thanks to the talented vendor team pulling off a truly beautiful wedding day (in the rain!!!)
