The Fancy Room = Before/After Renovation

We finally get to share another Before/After of our house we bought in May 2016! If you missed our Kitchen Renovation blog, click here!

Phillip named this “The Fancy Room”, and this is where we plan to host clients/couples in our home!

This room has my FAVORITE color palette: black, white, and GOLD! I wanted it to look simple, but very luxurious!

It started as an ORANGE ROOM with a ceiling fan. I found some Peel-n-Stick wallpaper (which sounds WAY easier than it really was) for a feature wall, and through lots of tears, frustration, xacto cuts, and help from my mom+dad, it got installed!!!

I had dreams of wanting VELVET furniture (Phillip thought I was crazy at first) and found the prettiest gray velvet couch and vintage-style black velvet chairs online!!!

My FAVORITE part of the whole room is the HUGE chandelier. It looks like I took it straight from a hotel in Charleston. With the “finding skills” of my mother-in-law, we found the PERFECT chandelier on CRAIGSLIST and I researched to find an antique-looking ceiling medallion online. Phillip & my father-in-law hung it for me, and put every single crystal on by hand!!!!

Another AMAZING FIND was the mantle. I was given the 1880’s farmhouse fireplace mantle by my sister-in-law’s family, and it fit the narrow space like it was CUSTOM MADE for it!!!! Phillip helped me clean, re-build, and paint it, so it’s in great condition.

I LOVE pieces that have stories, so other than the mantle – the gold candle sticks & gold picture frame are also family pieces from Phillip’s grandmother (who I never was able to meet).

My sisters & mom gave me some of the gold décor pieces, and I found the shag rug and coffee table online (with a coupon!!!) to finish out the room.

There’s SO much bright light that pours into this room, and it’s such a happy space. I can’t WAIT to start having our couples share this little spot with us.
