Edenton, NC Plantation | Engagement Session | Gilliam + Laura Beth | April 15, 2019
Driving across a private bridge down a winding azalea-lined path, and seeing a stately plantation home waiting for us felt like we were transported into The Notebook. I was in complete AWE of the green-shuttered plantation home that has served the Wood family for SIX generations. Built around 1815, I could just imagine horse-drawn carriages pulling up to this sound-side estate instead of my little Hyundai!
Needless to say, my historic-home loving heart was THRILLED to photograph Laura Beth and Gilliam on such a beautiful property, that is also so meaningful to them. Since Gilliam is the oldest son, he and Laura Beth will live here one day, and care for the 600+ acres of crops. How special is their legacy?
Laura Beth looked SO beautiful in her outfits, and Gilliam looked so dapper in his as well! They did a great job posing through 19MPH WINDS and the cold air coming off of the sound. Gilliam had told us that he HATES taking photos, but I would have NEVER guessed, because he did an AMAZING job posing, and was so easy-going about everything!
We really loved including their 17-year old family dog, Casey in a few photos. She is so sweet and we loved hearing stories about her warming up to the fact of Laura Beth being in Gilliam’s life, and her chasing fireworks. She laid on the front stoop and watched us photograph the whole time, and it was so sweet!
Some of our favorite moments were just hearing the stories that Gilliam told about growing up on the property! Ghost stories, epic parties, hunting, and just what it was like living in a historic home. So cool!
We loved the afternoon we had with these two, and are so grateful to have been shown their future home where many more generations of the Wood family will reside!
We hope you’ll LOVE seeing our favorite photos below! It was SO HARD to narrow them down!! Enjoy!! 🙂
