The Maxwell | Wedding Day | Kimberly & Alex | June 11, 2022
There are some wedding days that are just WORTH THE WAIT! After TWO wedding dates (thanks, Covid) and over TWO YEARS of waiting for this day to finally happen – Kimberly and Alex got married on the most perfect June day. This sweet couple booked us way back in February 2020 – literally 1 month before COVID hit. With Kimberly being a nurse – put literally on the front lines of her covid unit – these past 2 years have been nothing short of challenging for them. Alex stepped in and helped with a ton of wedding planning & vendor communication when Kimberly couldn’t – and seeing them support each other & work as “a team” throughout the past 2.5 years has been incredible. 🙂
We photographed their beautiful beach Engagement Session way back in 2020 – and it’s so full of sunshine and the prettiest water & sky that you need to see it again! Click HERE to view their stunning beachy session!!! 🙂
Kimberly’s Bridal Session was so HAPPY – because after 2.5 years of planning (and re-planning) she could finally feel like a bride. Click HERE to see Kimberly’s Bridal Session sneak peek on our blog!!!
We were SO pumped for this wedding – not only to celebrate Alex & Kimberly, but also because it was our FIRST Maxwell wedding! Phillip and I were so excited to photograph somewhere new and beautiful. 🙂
After watching a forecast threatening rain ALL WEEK and hot NC summer temps, somehow we were blessed with NO rain showers, and both overcast when we needed it for photos – and sunshine when it didn’t matter! Wow!! We were so grateful, because a fully sunny day would have been way too hot.
We started off the day meeting all the girls in the beautiful Bridal Suite, and photographing such pretty details. Flowers on Broad totally SPOILED me, with absolutely gorgeous flowers to use, including a peony the size of my face! I had the best time photographing this group of bridesmaids, they were all so laid-back and made my job easy and fun.
Next, Alex & Kimberly had their First Look. Alex’s reaction to seeing Kimberly was absolutely PRECIOUS!!!! What a sweet memory that will be for them! Afterwards, we went directly into their Bride/Groom portraits & all their Bridal Party photos since there was an 80% chance of a storm rolling through! (But thankfully it never came! Just big drops of water on our arms – no rain!)
The ceremony was really special, because even though Alex had already seen Kimberly & spent an hour together – his reaction to seeing Kimberly walk down the aisle was once again full of emotion & love. It was soooooo sweet. I also loved that Kimberly chose to have both her mom AND dad walk her down the aisle!!!
Since most photos were done, Alex and Kimberly could join their own cocktail hour, and we got to sneak inside and photograph their STUNNING reception. My favorite part was the INCREDIBLE floral feature installation across the fireplace. It was so unique and was such a beautiful focal feature for everyone all night.
The reception kicked off with a BANG!!!! All their guests from all over the US and the WORLD – different languages but all dancing together – made the reception special. Kimberly & Alex spoiled their guests with delicious plated dinners from Rocky Top, a whole dessert BAR (my favorite were the tiny chocolate chip cookie sandwiches with the coffee bean on top – WOW!), an open bar all night with signature cocktails, and ALSO Two Roosters Ice Cream station with FOUR different flavors!!!! What an amazing spread to keep everyone snacking & happy!
The reception ended with a beautiful sparkler exit under the market lights. It was such a sweet way to end the evening! We are sooooooo happy to have FINALLY been able to celebrate Alex & Kimberly, it was such an honor.
I can’t WAIT for ya’ll to see all my favorite photos from their happy day below! ENJOY!!!! 🙂
