Wedding Day | Karen + Austin | October 5th, 2019
I first met Karen in a gym watching our guys play in a basketball league together. (They were hands down the best ones on the team!) She immediately introduced herself so warmly, and we chatted for the next hour like old friends all about photography, FCA, mutual friends, and pageantry! After the game was over, she showed me her sparkly crown – and I remember thinking how perfectly it fit her bubbly + sparkly personality! (It’s also because of Karen that Phillip has watched his 1 and only pageant, haha!)
We were so excited to hear when Austin proposed to Karen at our mutual friends’ new venue, The Firehouse – and so honored when they asked us to become their photographers. Their Engagement Session was sooooo ridiculously beautiful and became one of my all-time FAVORITES (but shhhh, I don’t have favorites!) click HERE to see it! Then, not surprisingly, Karen’s Bridal Session was also SO gorgeous because she poses with such ease and can NOT take a bad photo. (If you missed seeing it, click HERE!)
It’s pretty obvious that we were SO EXCITED for Karen + Austin’s big day. As a couple who is so selfless and gives SO MUCH to others, we were pumped for a day celebrating ALL ABOUT THEM!!!!
We arrived in Goldsboro, and the girls were all hanging out doing glam (lots of them did their OWN hair and makeup – impressive!) and it was such a fun vibe in such a cool space. Austin surprised Karen by sending her flowers and a letter as she was getting ready!!! SO SWEET!!!!! Karen and her family are so close, and it was beautiful seeing their loving relationship as they shed lots of happy tears throughout the morning!
Karen and Austin opted for a First Look, and we found a beautiful pecan grove that was magical. Even though it started raining during their First Look, it was beautiful and I loved when Austin asked to pray over their marriage. Thankfully the rain stopped, and we knocked out a ton of portraits before the ceremony! (Thanks so much to Matt + Trudi Rast for letting us use their beautiful property!)
The ceremony was personal, Christ-centered, with a prayer by Karen’s dad, a beautiful duet by her sister & Evan Dermott, and even the whole church lighting candles at the end. It was so unique and special.
Karen and Austin made SO much time for portraits, and we hopped back outside for probably my FAVORITE set of portraits. They looked so happy as Mr. & Mrs. Terrell!!!
The reception was BEAUTIFULLY decorated by Bearfox Studios (Lauren + Chelsea) with greenery all over the venue, and accented with tons of photos, décor, personal touches, favors, and strung lights. The guests were treated to an amazing dinner by McCall’s BBQ (I’m still drooling over those mashed potatoes) as well as cake, a doughnut wall, a photobooth, and TONS of dancing. My favorite part of the reception was the surprise family dance that Karen, Austin, Olivia, Barry, and Katie did to a mashup of fun songs. The guests loved it, and it set the tone for the fun evening ahead!
After a wonderfully fun evening, Karen and Austin left through a tunnel of SPRINKLES off to their honeymoon in Key West!!!
We hope you all LOVE these photos from Austin and Karen’s beautiful wedding!!!! Enjoy re-living their beautiful day!
