Engagement Session | Hannah & Connor | April 16, 2017
This Engagement Session goes down as one of the most BEAUTIFUL locations, with some of the WEIRDEST experiences!! Thankfully, the beauty outweighed the weird, so we ended up with a spectacular session. (I promise I’ll explain below!)
Phillip and I were brokenhearted when our calendar was already booked for Hannah & Connor’s wedding day. Their special day will be a homage to their southern roots – a traditionally classic wedding at one of our favorite venues (Rose Hill Plantation) with soft, muted bridesmaids dresses & greenery, with different shades of pink flowers.
BUT Connor and Hannah still wanted us to photograph their Engagement Session, so we started planning an epic session. After several ideas, we found the most AMAZING location, and planned it for EASTER!
Here’s the sneaky part – Hannah and I applied for a photography permit, but the gardens weren’t giving out any more permits. SO, we decided to SNEAK and still photograph at the gardens, TRY to be low-key (my former/current couples know how hard that is for me) and ATTEMPT to not get kicked out!!!!
Hannah and Connor drove FOUR HOURS on Easter, and I can’t believe how good they looked after traveling that long!
Not even FIVE minutes into the session is when the WEIRDNESS began!!!! We were literally in our first set of poses, and a security guard for the gardens started walking towards us!!! We totally freaked out, and started walking quickly away, and I pretended to be a nature photographer – HAHA! Thankfully, we either lost him, or maybe he wasn’t coming for us after all, because we were able to photograph the entire session without getting kicked out!
Next….about TWO minutes later, Phillip is leading the way and there’s a big SNAKE gliding (wiggling? scooting? running?) across our path! I do NOT like snakes at ALL, so we were a little shaken.
Then…another FIVE minutes later, I was passing a tall fountain, and stumbled upon an ALLIGATOR on the LOOSE, just walking across the lawn!!! Granted, it wasn’t full grown yet…but I’m PRETTY SURE he could’ve bit my foot off.
Hannah and Connor were the BEST sports the entire session – through all the wild animals (we also saw a gecko, wild turkeys, and mosquitoes were bad!) they kept their composure and ROCKED IT OUT!!!
This Engagement Session became one of our FAVORITES because of the combination of a sweet couple + amazing location + beautiful light + experiencing new things!! It was tough narrowing down our favorites, but enjoy the ones we chose!!! (AND be sure to see the ALLIGATOR photo!!!)
