Emily & Alex = Duke Chapel Engagement Session!

Emily and Alex BOTH graduated college on Friday, moved Emily home to NC on Saturday, and on Monday here we were photographing their Engagement Session! Whew, what a busy weekend they had doing major life things! Alex and Emily were on Cloud 9, just so cute together and happy to finally be in the same STATE for once! (Liberty and NC State are their alma maters!)

We had planned to start their Engagement Session at Duke University’s campus – but when we arrived it was CHAOS. Unfortunately, we had inadvertently picked GRADUATION WEEKEND – and every photographer under the sun was there photographing, with flash stands, parents and graduates EVERYWHERE! (Even a quinceanera session was going on!) Phillip and I had to walk around picking up confetti poppers, champagne corks, and bottles before we could even start the session. It was crazy!!! We called Emily & Alex to ask if they wanted to still try to shoot at the Chapel, or go elsewhere. They were TROOPERS and decided to go for it! 🙂

Thankfully, Alex and Emily were so patient to allow us to work around everyone and try to position them without tons of people in the background. I never like to put our couples in crowded areas (especially at the beginning of a session!) because it’s always nerve-wracking to feel like people are watching you! But we had no choice, and these two handled it wonderfully – PLUS with the wind blowing and making it chilly!!!! Whew!

I just LOVED the outfits Emily chose for their session. Emily said people rarely pick bold colors – so she wanted to do something super unique – yet stay with the classic & elegant theme we were going for! I thought she nailed it. Emily looked beautiful in the sunshine with the happy colors & Alex looked so handsome in his blue suit jacket – their outfits fit the elegant backdrop of Duke wonderfully!

We had the best afternoon walking around with these two, and are so grateful they trusted us with all our ideas to make this session happen! I can’t wait for ya’ll to see my favorite photos from Emily & Alex’s session below! ENJOY!!!! 🙂
