Graesyn & Cam = Whalehead Club Corolla Wedding Day!

The Whalehead Club Wedding Day  |  Graesyn & Cam  |  April 18th, 2026

I have to tell ya’ll such a special, full circle moment! I grew up going to church with the Lockhart family (Mr. Jeff was our church drummer!) and reconnected years later when I became a photographer & they hired us to photograph Graesyn’s high school Senior Session! It was one of the most creative sessions with her incorporating her love of dance. (I actually still have that blog from A DECADE AGO – click here to see it!!!) During the session, Graesyn told me her future goals for college would be to become a Graphic Designer & Photographer (just like my path!) All these years later – that’s exactly what Graesyn is – a very talented Photographer, & Graphic Designer!!! When she reached out for us to photograph her wedding day, it was such an honor & full circle moment!!!

I’ve had the best time working with Graesyn & she’s been so trusting and easy to work with! From their stunning Engagement Session on the OBX, to her gorgeous Bridal Session in Winston Salem, to now their wedding in OBX, we’ve driven all over NC chasing light and making pretty photos together!! It’s been such a creative & fun year together!!

Okay, time to tell you about Cam & Graesyn’s incredible wedding day! She grew up going to her family’s home in Corolla in the OBX and it’s a very special place to her. Every year, her family would go to Whalehead Club to explore and take photos there. Now decades later, Whalehead Club was the venue they chose to tie the knot! It’s a beautiful 39-acre property with a historic yellow mansion as the iconic architectural showpiece! It’s surrounded by water & even has a lighthouse in the distance. We had a beautiful day for a wedding (just super windy – but that’s the OBX for you!) and back home it was HOT (20º warmer), but we had the perfect temperature on the coast.

The girls enjoyed getting glam in the Bridal Suite, and I had the BEST TIME photographing all of Graesyn’s details – most of which she designed herself!! I loveddd her invitation suite, and all the extra pieces along with it. The pearls were her mom’s, and the golf ball is a guest favor that Graesyn designed as a nod to Cam’s love of golf!! Graesyn told me she loves detail photos, so I had fun creating some really colorful flatlays!!!

After several different First Looks, it was time for Graesyn & Cam to have a First Touch, and then read each other their vows privately!! To make it extra special – they took an idea from the movie The Vow where they get a menu from their First Date location & write a note on it to each other. They not only wrote each other letters on that stationary, but also their vows! What a cute idea!!!

The ceremony was STUNNING at the sound – with baskets of florals, beautiful banner welcome signs, and a cross in the middle. The yellow Whalehead Club home was the backdrop & made for such a unique setting. After the ceremony, we got away from some of the wind and took photos! Graesyn was such a good sport, because it was OBX-level WINDY and the gusts can definitely be frustrating for a bride! We still made magic together and I just love how the sun was popping through the trees.

It was time for the reception, and their tent was just WHIMSICAL. String lights hanging low all across the tent, woven light fixtures hanging from the ceiling, spring florals everywhere, wooden farm tables mixed with circular tables draped in the prettiest linens. It was just soooo pretty – and that dance floor was so unique being wooden colored + white! I loved all their design elements – place cards, menus, watercolor table numbers – it was all so special!

The reception kicked off with dances (my favorite was a surprise dance with Graesyn & her grandpa, CP) and then we snuck out for sunset photos! The sunset kept getting more and more beautiful as it set!! Cam and Graesyn treated their guests to yummy food + drinks, cupcakes, a Photo Booth, and lots of dancing!!! The evening flew by – and before we knew it, it was time for the exit!! Graesyn’s brother fixed up their grandfather’s old truck just for this moment! They walked through a tunnel of bubbles & sat on the tailgate as they exited the night!! It was such a fun way to end a perfect day!

Thank you guys so much for allowing us to be part of your special day! It can always be intimidating to work for other photographers, so thank you for treating us with such encouragement, thoughtfulness, and generosity!!! Ya’ll are the best!!!
