Wedding Day // Wilson, NC // 10.4.2015 The weather forecast was RAIN RAIN RAIN all day. Guests were showing up in rainbooots and umbrellas. Back-up plan tents were in place outside, and the original plan of an outdoor reception was scratched. Corri had EVERY REASON to be sad, bummed, and freaking out on their wedding day, ESPECIALLY since outdoor naturally lit photographs were super important to her & Steve. But you know what?! Corri was calm, smiling, joking, and enjoying her entire morning. SO COOL. Whenever I see a rain forecast for a wedding day, I tell my Mom to pray HARD for patches of no rain for portrait time. What a blessing, because we had enough time to shoot ALL the portraits outdoors, with only a slight rain during Bride/Groom photos (Corri and Steve posed right through the rain like pros!) Rain or no, this wedding was an absolute PARTY. Steve and Corri put SO MUCH THOUGHT into every aspect of their wedding day. They spoiled their guests with the best food, music, and atmosphere in a gorgeous location. Local foods and desserts were featured to bring “southern NC” into the wedding day, homemade brews were poured, family members played strings for the ceremony, and UNC colors were prominently displayed throughout the venue. Although Steve & Corri’s Java Band was a-maz-ing, (and some of the nicest guys too!) I must say that the HIGHLIGHT of the reception was Steve SERENADING Corri. He is UNC Clefhanger alum, so I knew he must be a good singer. I didn’t know HOW good until he began, and all the women were crying and “aww-ing” – it was the sweetest! He first sang to Corri alone, then several songs with the Clefs who were in attendance. IT BLEW ME AWAY. There’s SO much more I could describe, or tell more funny stories (like when the guitarist laid on the GROUND to play the last song) …but I’ll just say that we left the wedding with an overwhelming sense that Corri and Steve are absolutely loved. The toasts that people gave describing them, the amount of labor that went into the day, the people who travelled to come – it truly comes across how deeply they’re loved by friends and family. Corri and Steve – YA’LL ARE AWESOME. Thanks for being up for shooting in the rain, smiling through a cloudy, gray day, ordering us a delicious serviced dinner, and treating us like guests. We hope you had a great time relaxing on the honeymoon, and we wish you all the best!!! |
